The team was launched on 17 January 2011 in Adelaide, Australia. Orica, a multinational company which provides chemicals and explosives for the mining industry, is GreenEdge's title sponsor. The team is under the management of Andrew Ryan and Shayne Bannan.

Neil Stephens, Lionel Marie, Vittorio Algeri, Matt Wilson, Laurenzo Lapage are the Sport Directors of the men team Orica GreenEdge, admitted by the UCI to the 2012 and 2013 World Tour seasons.
